Empowering Lives | Restoring Hopes

Carewell
foundation
Carewell Foundation is a humanitarian NGO committed to empowering underserved communities across Uganda, with a special focus on the West Nile and Palisa regions. Formed by philanthropists Paresh Mehta and Hareesh Sahadevan, and registered under the NGO Organization Act 2016 (Reg. No. 8183), we operate with a valid permit from the Uganda NGO Bureau (FORP0006147NB). We ensure transparency and accountability in all our operations through regular audits and reporting, and we are committed to using every donation and resource effectively to serve those in need.
Our Mission
To uplift vulnerable populations through access to healthcare, education, sustainable livelihoods, and dignified living conditions, with a special emphasis on women, children, and refugees.
Our Vision
A just and inclusive society where everyone enjoys the right to health, education, opportunity, and dignity regardless of background.
- Our Key Initiatives
1. Rabbit Projects for Sustainable Livelihoods
In the rural villages of West Nile, our Rabbit Breeding Projects have been a game-changer. These projects, aimed at empowering families with a low-cost, high-yield source of nutrition and income, have not only improved the lives of the participants but also the entire community. They are designed especially for widows and single mothers, allowing them to become self-reliant.
2. Quarterly Medical Camps – Up Uganda
Access to healthcare is a fundamental right that many are still deprived of. Our Quarterly
Medical Camps in the regions of Uganda are a beacon of hope for hundreds of patients who
would otherwise travel miles for a doctor. These camps provide free consultations, basic
medicines, maternal check-ups, and vaccinations, often addressing life-threatening conditions
that would have gone untreated.
3. Feeding 500 Young Mothers Every Month
Nutrition during and after pregnancy is not a luxury; it's a necessity. Through our Young Mothers Nutrition Program, we serve healthy, balanced meals to over 500 young and undernourished mothers each month, improving maternal and infant health outcomes. Your support can ensure that no mother has to worry about the next meal for her and her baby.
4. Education Support & School Fees Sponsorship
We believe education is the most powerful tool for change. Carewell sponsors school fees, uniforms, and supplies for children from low-income families, enabling them to continue their studies without interruption.
5. Menstrual Health Awareness & Period Poverty
We are actively fighting period poverty by: • Conducting Menstrual Health Awareness Workshops in rural schools and communities. • Distributing free reusable sanitary pads to girls and women who otherwise miss school or work during menstruation. • Working with health educators to break menstrual taboos and promote hygiene.
To ensure sustainability, we are establishing a manufacturing unit to produce eco-friendly, reusable sanitary pads made from banana fiber. This will combat period poverty and create jobs for local women, adding to community resilience.
6. Refugee Support & Resettlement Programs
We extend holistic support to refugees seeking shelter and dignity in Uganda. Our services
include:
• Free shelter, food, and education for refugee families.
• Job placement support in local businesses.
• Legal aid and documentation assistance are needed to attain official refugee status.
• Counseling and guidance through every stage of the resettlement process.
Success Stories: Families We Helped
